What Is Flap Surgery?

Flap Surgery is a periodontal procedure used when deep gum pockets or bone loss cannot be treated with regular cleaning or scaling. During the procedure, the gum tissue is gently lifted (or “flapped”) to provide access to the roots of the teeth and the underlying bone. The area is then cleaned, disinfected, and reshaped before the gum is repositioned and sutured back in place.

When Is Flap Surgery Needed?

Persistent gum infection or swelling
Deep periodontal pockets around teeth
Bone loss due to advanced gum disease
Loose teeth or gum recession
Bleeding gums despite regular cleaning

Benefits of Flap Surgery

Deep cleaning and removal of infection
Reduced gum pocket depth
Improved gum attachment and healing
Prevention of further bone and tooth loss
